PETALING JAYA: Amanah will accept any decision on seat allocations for next month’s election in Johor, even if the Puteri Wangsa state seat is assigned to PKR as Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) representative.

Amanah secretary-general Faiz Fadzil said PH’s top leadership had finalised seat negotiations and would announce the allocations on Monday.

“In principle, the negotiations have concluded smoothly. What matters is that PH focuses on winning as many seats as possible to form the state government after the Johor election.

“Discussions on Puteri Wangsa and Larkin have also been resolved, and the party is confident that whatever decision is made will be accepted by Amanah members and supporters in the spirit of solidarity,” he told FMT.

Meanwhile, Johor Amanah vice-chief Zuhan Zain said the state chapter would abide by any decision that helps secure a PH victory.

“A decision has already been made. At the Johor level, we know the outcome and we accept whatever has been decided,” he said when contacted.

“In the spirit of coalition solidarity, if the seat is allocated to Amanah, we will proceed with our plans to contest it. If it is given to PKR, we will help ensure that PH wins the seat.”

The Puteri Wangsa seat became a point of contention after Muda parted ways with PH, with Amanah then signalling its intention to reclaim the constituency it had earlier “lent” to the party.

However, Johor PKR vice-chairman Jimmy Puah said his party would represent PH in Puteri Wangsa.

It is understood that Amanah is expected to contest the Larkin seat, which PKR contested in the 2022 state polls.

In that election, Muda’s candidate Amira Aisya Abd Aziz won Puteri Wangsa with a 7,114-vote majority.

Barisan Nasional retained Larkin through its candidate Hairi Mad Shah, who secured a 6,178-vote majority.

Nomination day for the Johor election is June 27, with early voting on July 7 and polling day set for July 11.
