- MSTR stock price divergence against its RSI signals accumulation and potential pivot ahead.
MicroStrategy (MSTR) stock, now Strategy, just retested its 12-month low, and now risks sinking lower. However, the prospects of a recovery have also been rising along with institutional investment.
The Florida Pension Fund just expanded its exposure to Bitcoin through a $47 million investment in MicroStrategy stock.
It marked the latest addition to the rapidly growing list of pension funds and other institutional investors that recently acquired MSTR stock.
More than a dozen state public retirement and treasury funds in the U.S have collectively acquired MicroStrategy shares worth over $600 million so far.
A relatively small amount, considering the deep liquidity that the retirement funds manage. Nevertheless, this marks a healthy start now that some funds are willing to dip their toes into non-traditional assets like Bitcoin.
Bitcoin liquidity inflows from large-pooled institutions like retirement funds are crucial because they highlight a long-term focus.
Are Institutions Buying the Discounted MicroStrategy Stock?
2025 is on track to conclude as the year with the highest institutional liquidity inflows into Bitcoin. MSTR stock acts as an ideal proxy for gauging institutional involvement.
Recently published MicroStrategy institutional ownership data revealed that institutions have acquired over 165 million MSTR shares this December. It was also the month with the highest institutional ownership in 2025.
The higher institutional ownership in December suggests that the discounted MSTR stock price was attracting buyers. It also confirmed that institutions maintained high conviction over Bitcoin’s long-term prospects.
MicroStrategy Stock Price Retests its 2025 Bottom
MicroStrategy (MSTR) stock dropped as low as $155 in the last 24 hours. This was the lowest price point that the stock has achieved this year. It also marked a retest since it dipped to the same level at the start of December.
MSTR extended its discount to 65% from its highest price point in 2025. If it loses its current support, then price could fall to the next support zone within the $105-$115 range.
The crypto stock price has been forming a bullish divergence with its RSI. This, combined with the surging demand from institutional investors, signals a higher probability of a bullish pivot.
The stock’s MFI indicator registered a sharp uptick in the first half of December. This confirmed robust accumulation but the demand was not enough to push for a sizable recovery.
Moreover, Bitcoin price has also been struggling to find a bullish footing, thus suppressing the MSTR stock price.
This is because it relies heavily on BTC performance, hence weak Bitcoin upside reflects on the stock price. Bitcoin’s heavy influence may therefore determine whether MSTR stock will rally or extend its decline.
Will MSTR price rally to $1,000 in 2026?
A $1000 price tag for MicroStrategy stock may not be far-fetched, but some conditions have to be met for it to rally that high. For example, liquidity conditions in 2026 will determine whether investment sentiment will favor risk-on assets like Bitcoin.
Some analysts previously predicted a sharp recovery in 2026, but we recently observed downward revisions to Bitcoin price predictions. The institutional card could play a major role in the stock’s recovery.
Institutional liquidity has been flowing into MicroStrategy (MSTR), and this may create the perfect runway for the stock to soar, especially if Bitcoin makes a strong comeback.
