Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has almost "no way" of securing the permanent AG job, according to a former Fox News anchor.

On CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360," Gretchen Carlson weighed in on the idea of Blanche continuing in his post at the head of the Department of Justice after his confirmation hearing.

Carlson pointed out that "the Senate Judiciary Committee holds the power for this nomination," and Blanche's only chance of winning them over is if he gets rid of Trump's $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund.

"You have three people on there who are Republicans who are right now going to probably say no if this fund is not quashed," Carlson said, pointing to Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC), Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), and Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA).

Republican senators also notably ripped into Blanche in a private meeting not too long ago over the fund.

"There is no way in hell he will ever be Attorney General," Carlson said, calling those three GOP Senators "the lifeblood of Todd Blanche becoming Attorney General."

Blanche has previously said that the fund is "dead," but Trump refused to rule it out during a recent press gaggle.
