Injective Affiliate Completes SEC Registration as Tokenized Securities Transfer Agent; INJ Rises 8%
According to Injective, its affiliate Injective Institutional Services has registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as a transfer agent responsible for maintaining official ownership records and processing tokenized securities transfers. The registration allows the company to combine regulated recordkeeping services with its Injective Mint tokenization platform, providing compliance controls for the issuance, ownership management, and settlement of institutional assets. Following the announcement, Injective’s native token INJ rose approximately 8%, with its intraday market capitalization briefly reaching around $450 million.
Kalshi Applies to Launch Copper Perpetual Contract Using Pyth Network Price Data With No Expiration Date
According to Decrypt, prediction market operator Kalshi filed an application with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission on August 18 to launch a copper perpetual contract called COPPERPERP. The contract would track the U.S. dollar-denominated spot price of copper and use price data supplied by Pyth Network. It would be cash-settled without involving physical copper delivery, while periodic payments between long and short traders would help keep the contract aligned with the spot price. Kalshi previously received approval to offer Bitcoin perpetual contracts and has also applied to introduce equity index perpetual contracts.
Federal Reserve Minutes Offer No Signal of Rate Cuts
According to Jin10, the Federal Reserve’s meeting minutes contained no views supporting a rate cut, indicating that policy discussions have changed significantly from last year. Although inflation has recently eased slightly, the Middle East conflict and restrictions on energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz continue to create price pressures. Meanwhile, companies unexpectedly cut jobs in July. Markets expect the Federal Reserve to keep its policy rate unchanged again at its September 15–16 meeting. Officials remain divided over whether further rate increases are needed to contain inflation and are paying closer attention to labor-market conditions and risks to the full-employment mandate.
OCC Comptroller: Final GENIUS Act Implementing Rules to Be Issued in November
According to Cointelegraph, Comptroller of the Currency Jonathan Gould said the OCC will issue final implementing rules for the payment stablecoin legislation in November after considering industry feedback on its February proposal. The 376-page proposal is intended to implement the GENIUS Act, which was signed into law in July 2025 and is scheduled to take effect in January 2027. The OCC expects to begin processing applications from stablecoin issuers in 2027. The U.S. Treasury, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and Federal Reserve Board must also complete their respective regulations before the legislation takes effect.
Standard Chartered and HSBC Complete First Real-Time Cross-Border Transaction on SWIFT Blockchain Ledger
According to Cointelegraph, Standard Chartered and HSBC completed the first real-time cross-border transaction executed through SWIFT’s blockchain ledger. Payment messages were exchanged through the SWIFT ledger, while the corresponding obligations were recorded through HSBC’s Tokenised Deposit Service and Standard Chartered’s tokenized deposit infrastructure. Before final settlement, the SWIFT ledger matched and netted the obligations between the two banks, while settlement was ultimately completed through existing payment systems. The ledger is designed to connect tokenized deposits issued across different banking infrastructures while retaining established compliance, settlement, and risk-control mechanisms.
U.S. CFTC Seeks Public Comment on Compute Derivatives Contracts
According to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the agency is seeking public comment on the potential listing of compute derivatives contracts to better understand the size, liquidity, and development of compute cash markets. The consultation also covers market regulation, manipulation risks, customer-protection mechanisms, and the feasibility of perpetual compute futures. The CFTC aims to assess the potential demand and risks associated with a U.S. compute trading market and gather information that could inform future regulatory rules. Comments may be submitted for 60 days after the relevant notice is published in the Federal Register.
Base to Invest $100,000 Each in 10 Startups Through Eight-Week Accelerator Focused on AI Agents and Other Sectors
According to Decrypt, Base has launched its eight-week Batches 004 accelerator program, which will select 10 startups to receive investments of $100,000 each from the Base Ecosystem Fund. Applications close on September 9, and a Demo Day will be held in New York in November. The program targets pre-seed teams working in trading, payments, financing, and AI agents, including products that use stablecoins to support agent-based shopping, trading, and payments. Teams may support multiple blockchains but must use Base as their primary network. Selected projects will receive dedicated advisers, weekly support, and exposure across the Base ecosystem.
Nethermind Exits LayerZero DVN Business and Moves to Chainlink CCIP
According to Nethermind, the core Ethereum ecosystem contributor has stopped operating a LayerZero decentralized verifier network following a comprehensive review. It has joined the Chainlink network as a node operator and strategic technology provider. Nethermind will provide engineering tools, infrastructure services, and integration support for blockchain application developers using Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol. Security Alert
Users should remain alert to malicious approval attacks disguised as high-yield token or arbitrage opportunities. Attackers may deploy fraudulent token contracts and induce wallets, trading bots, or ordinary users to grant token-spending permissions before using those approvals to transfer genuine assets. In one case disclosed by Chainalysis, an attacker used 66 fraudulent token contracts to trick the target into granting approvals and ultimately stole at least $7.5 million in assets. Before connecting to an unfamiliar protocol, users should verify the contract address through official channels, avoid unlimited approvals, and regularly inspect and revoke permissions that are no longer required. If a suspicious approval is detected, immediately revoke it and transfer the remaining assets to a secure wallet.
