Bersatu info chief accuses PAS of consolidating control in PN reshuffle

PETALING JAYA: Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz has accused PAS of consolidating control over Perikatan Nasional (PN) after a leadership reshuffle that saw Radzi Jidin and Azmin Ali dropped from the coalition’s Supreme Council.

Tun Faisal said the changes shifted the balance of power in PAS’s favour, increasing its voting power to eight and reducing Bersatu’s to four.

He said that smaller parties like Gerakan and the Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP) could influence decisions depending on which side they support.

He also said that if Gerakan aligned with PAS, it would give PAS a clear advantage in decision-making, even if MIPP supports Bersatu.

“This is a harsh political game being played by PAS. Day by day, bit by bit, PAS’s authoritarian attitude and dirty politics are being revealed,” he said in a statement today.

“If not a ‘clerical-like’ or ‘Taliban-like’ approach, then perhaps it is Machiavellian in nature, where the end justifies the means.”

Tun Faisal also said the emergency PN Supreme Council meeting was announced despite what he described as a lack of recent engagement on internal disputes, seat negotiations, and election preparations.

He further alleged that PN chairman Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar had not convened key coalition meetings, including those involving electoral coordination and policy discussions.

“It is no longer a secret that there are elements within PAS who aim to take full control of PN and push Bersatu out of the coalition.

“This intention has been hinted at on several occasions by certain leaders,” he said.
