JOHOR BAHRU: Pakatan Harapan will unveil its manifesto for the Johor state election in the coming days, promising a set of pledges that are realistic, practical, and easier for the public to understand.

PH secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the manifesto would be finalised at a meeting of the coalition’s top leadership on Monday.

Saifuddin, who is also PKR’s election director, said the manifesto would focus on key areas including economic stability, public welfare, good governance, increasing state revenue, and ensuring its fair distribution to the people.

One of the manifesto’s central themes would be the need for Johor to be governed by a coalition that works in tandem with the federal government so that the state can reap greater benefits and development.

“This is a realistic manifesto that the people can understand and relate to,” he told a press conference in Kulai.

The state election, scheduled for July 11, will see PH contest all 56 seats, matching Barisan Nasional, which won 40 seats and formed the state government four years ago.

Saifuddin also said PH chairman Anwar Ibrahim is expected to attend the coalition’s grand finale ceramah in Johor on July 9.

“We’ll try to have him there for the grand finale, two days before polling day. All the party presidents will be attending,” he said.

Speaking in jest, Saifuddin said the prime minister’s appearance in Johor would depend on his (Saifuddin’s) and PKR vice-president Amirudin Shari’s performance in managing the party’s election machinery.

“If he’s satisfied with our performance, he might say there’s no need for him to come,” he said.
