The team at MS NOW’s “The Weekend” was sent into ‘delirious’ laughter Sunday morning after the network played a video montage of President Donald Trump touting his administration’s “fair” system of justice and supposed end to political prosecutions.
The montage was queued to provide context on a recent interview of former special counsel Jack Smith, who revealed the steps he took to prepare for potential prosecution by the Trump administration in retaliation for his investigation.

“Never again will the immense power of the state be weaponized to persecute political opponents,” Trump can be heard saying in the video montage. “My administration has acted swiftly and decisively to restore fair, equal and impartial justice under the constitutional rule of law.”
As the clip montage concluded, a smirking Jonathan Capehart struggled when trying to cite the countless examples of the Trump administration targeting the president’s political opponents with investigations and prosecutions.
“Perhaps on Earth 2 that is what Trump did, for those living here on Earth 1…” Capehart said before bursting into a wheezing laugh. “We've seen the exact opposite as his own personal law firm going after his perceived enemies while rewarding his allies!”
Capehart continued to laugh before apologizing and conceding that the outburst may land him and his MS NOW colleague “totally in trouble.”
“I just want to apologize to everybody, we are all delirious because it was a late night because of the 4th,” Capehart said. “So we just tired!”
