TLDR

  • Anthropic’s Claude chatbot experienced a global outage affecting thousands of users across platforms

  • Elevated error rates hit Claude.ai, Claude Code, and login services during the disruption

  • The company said its API remained operational while investigating the issue

  • Users reported access problems and error messages across web and app services

  • The outage follows recent scrutiny of Anthropic’s government contracts and AI restrictions

Anthropic faced a widespread service disruption Monday as its Claude chatbot experienced elevated error rates across platforms. Thousands of users reported problems accessing the service, according to outage tracking data.

The company confirmed it began investigating the issue shortly before noon London time. Initial updates said multiple services were experiencing elevated errors.

The outage affected Claude.ai as well as Anthropic’s coding assistant Claude Code. Some users reported they were unable to log in or access the chatbot interface.

Anthropic said its application programming interface remained operational during the disruption. Issues appeared to be tied mainly to login systems and the Claude.ai web interface.

Users shared screenshots on social media showing temporary service disruption messages. Logged-out users were unable to access the Claude app during parts of the outage.

Service Disruption Details

Anthropic said it identified elevated errors across several core services. The company’s status page confirmed problems affecting claude.ai, the console, and Claude Code tools.

The outage was first detected around 11:49 a.m. in London. Engineers began investigating shortly after the problem was identified.

Downdetector showed thousands of reports from users across multiple regions. Many said they could not send prompts or load conversations.

The company noted that its core Claude API continued functioning. This allowed some developers to maintain limited access through integrated systems.

Anthropic did not immediately provide a timeline for full service restoration. Updates continued to be posted on its official status page as the investigation progressed.

Context Around the Outage

The service disruption comes days after renewed scrutiny around Anthropic’s government contracts. U.S. federal agencies were recently ordered to stop using the company’s AI tools following contract cancellations.

More than $200 million in contracts were reportedly affected by the decision. Officials cited concerns about restrictions on how the company’s AI models can be used.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said the company faced pressure related to its stance on military use of its technology. Rival AI developer OpenAI publicly stated it did not support classifying Anthropic as a supply chain risk.

Anthropic is backed by major technology investors including Amazon and Alphabet. The company continues to expand its Claude AI offerings across consumer and enterprise platforms.

Service disruptions continued for some users during the investigation period. Anthropic said it was working to resolve elevated error rates affecting its Claude services.

Michael Saylor Pushes Digital Capital Narrative At Bitcoin Treasuries Unconference

The post Michael Saylor Pushes Digital Capital Narrative At Bitcoin Treasuries Unconference appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. The suitcoiners are in town.  From a low-key, circular podium in the middle of a lavish New York City event hall, Strategy executive chairman Michael Saylor took the mic and opened the Bitcoin Treasuries Unconference event. He joked awkwardly about the orange ties, dresses, caps and other merch to the (mostly male) audience of who’s-who in the bitcoin treasury company world.  Once he got onto the regular beat, it was much of the same: calm and relaxed, speaking freely and with confidence, his keynote was heavy on the metaphors and larger historical stories. Treasury companies are like Rockefeller’s Standard Oil in its early years, Michael Saylor said: We’ve just discovered crude oil and now we’re making sense of the myriad ways in which we can use it — the automobile revolution and jet fuel is still well ahead of us.  Established, trillion-dollar companies not using AI because of “security concerns” make them slow and stupid — just like companies and individuals rejecting digital assets now make them poor and weak.  “I’d like to think that we understood our business five years ago; we didn’t.”  We went from a defensive investment into bitcoin, Saylor said, to opportunistic, to strategic, and finally transformational; “only then did we realize that we were different.” Michael Saylor: You Come Into My Financial History House?! Jokes aside, Michael Saylor is very welcome to the warm waters of our financial past. He acquitted himself honorably by invoking the British Consol — though mispronouncing it, and misdating it to the 1780s; Pelham’s consolidation of debts happened in the 1750s and perpetual government debt existed well before then — and comparing it to the gold standard and the future of bitcoin. He’s right that Strategy’s STRC product in many ways imitates the consols; irredeemable, perpetual debt, issued at par, with…
