Security Alert
Recently, users should remain alert to fraudulent crypto investment schemes promoted through social media, text messages, dating platforms, and WhatsApp or Telegram groups. The FBI has warned that scammers often first build trust before directing victims to fraudulent investment platforms and encouraging repeated transfers of BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC, or other digital assets. Some platforms may even allow small withdrawals at first to build credibility, before later demanding additional “taxes,” “fees,” or account-unlocking payments and blocking access to funds. Victims may also be targeted by secondary scams claiming to recover previously lost assets. Users should not transfer funds based solely on recommendations from people known only online, should independently verify platform domains and apps, and should never pay additional fees in exchange for withdrawals or supposed recovery services. If suspicious activity is detected, users should stop transferring funds immediately and report the incident through official channels such as IC3.
