BAGUIO CITY — The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) formally welcomed the 367 incoming cadets of Class 2030 during their oath-taking and reception rites on Saturday at Borromeo Field at Fort General Gregorio H. del Pilar.
The new batch is composed of 290 male and 77 female cadets, received by Second Class Cadet Squad Leaders from PMA “SIKLAB KASILAG” Class of 2028, marking their transition into the Cadet Corps Armed Forces of the Philippines New Cadet Battalion.
The PMA said the cadets emerged from a highly competitive selection process. Of 33,640 applicants nationwide, only 1,436 passed the PMA Entrance Examination and advanced screening, with just 367 ultimately admitted.
The Cordillera region produced the highest number of successful applicants at 12%, followed by the National Capital Region and Region IV-A at 11% each.
PMA Superintendent Vice-Admiral Caesar Bernard N. Valencia said the academy continues to strengthen its curriculum to address evolving security challenges, including training in cybersecurity, systems thinking, international defense, and strategic leadership.
Class 2030 will undergo the enhanced Bachelor of Science in Management major in Security Studies program designed to prepare future Armed Forces officers for modern warfare, territorial defense, and emerging operational demands. — Artemio A. Dumlao
