'Shocks even me': Trump Jr. bemoans theories as he's with Erika Kirk at murder hearing

Donald Trump Jr. fired back at online conspiracists after they spun his appearance at the Charlie Kirk murder court hearing into a sinister theory.

Trump Jr. was seated in the gallery Monday at the 4th District Court in Provo, Utah, where prosecutors opened a five-day preliminary hearing — a proceeding to determine if there is enough evidence to put 23-year-old Tyler James Robinson on trial for the September 2025 assassination of conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

Charlie Kirk's widow, Erika Kirk — now chief executive officer of Turning Point USA — was also in the courtroom. It was her first time facing Robinson in person.

The trouble started when @DiligentDenizen, an anonymous X account, posted that Trump Jr. had arrived at the courthouse with Erika Kirk, adding: "I didn't know they were close."

"The spin on this stuff shocks even me," Trump Jr. wrote on X, "and I've seen it all at this point."

Former Trump attorney Jenna Ellis had already jumped in with an explanation: "He was very close with Charlie, so of course is going to support Charlie's widow."

"It's absolutely disgusting how people are spinning everything instead of just supporting Erika and remembering Charlie and demanding justice for them," Ellis added.

"Well said," Trump Jr. replied.

The exchange landed in the middle of a conspiracy theory ecosystem that has targeted Erika Kirk since her husband's killing.

MS NOW reported that a network of online conspiracists has spread baseless claims that she helped orchestrate the assassination, falsely tied her to Jeffrey Epstein, and alleged she was part of an Israeli plot to kill her own husband. Axios reported that conspiracy-fueled theories were being treated as live leads even within the Trump administration.

"…says everything we need to know about how high up this coverup goes," online researcher @leahfiles wrote of Trump Jr.'s attendance.

Australian whistleblower Richard Boyle called it "The psyop is becoming more visible every day."

The hearing is expected to last five days. Robinson has not yet entered a plea.
