The Invest in African Energy (IAE) Forum will return to Paris for its fifth edition from 11–13 May 2027, with an expanded focus on investment, capital mobilisation and project execution across Africa’s energy value chain.

Building on the momentum of the 2026 edition, the forum will bring together governments, national oil companies (NOCs), international operators, development finance institutions (DFIs), export credit agencies (ECAs), sovereign wealth funds, commercial lenders and private investors to originate, structure and finance energy projects across the continent.

From networking to investment execution

The 2026 edition attracted more than 300 companies from over 50 countries and facilitated three major upstream agreements across frontier African markets. Organisers say the 2027 programme will move further towards structured deal-making as Africa seeks to unlock capital for upstream, midstream and power projects.

Against a backdrop of rising hydrocarbon discoveries, growing electricity demand and significant infrastructure requirements, IAE 2027 aims to bridge the gap between investment opportunities and available capital.

The forum will introduce several dedicated investment platforms designed to accelerate project development.

A new G2B Investment Origination Day will provide governments and national oil companies with an opportunity to present licensing rounds, upstream farm-in opportunities and national energy investment pipelines directly to investors.

Meanwhile, the Transaction Suite will function as a curated deal room where sovereigns and operators can engage qualified investors in structured discussions around specific assets and projects.

Complementing these sessions, Investor Circles will convene development finance institutions, sovereign wealth funds, commercial banks and institutional investors to discuss blended finance, capital structuring and risk-mitigation mechanisms needed to unlock large-scale investment.

Ministers, financiers and developers under one roof

A flagship Ministerial Capital Roundtable will bring together African energy ministers and regional organisations to examine fiscal frameworks, regulatory stability and policy reforms aimed at improving investment conditions.

Alongside this, a CapEx Pipeline Forum, supported by development finance institutions and export credit agencies, will focus on financing large-scale LNG developments, pipelines, power infrastructure and cross-border energy corridors.

“Now returning for its fifth edition, IAE 2027 reflects the forum’s continued evolution as a leading investment platform. Building on the strong foundation established over the past four editions, this year’s programme expands the opportunities for governments, operators and investors to engage in structured environments where projects advance, partnerships are formed and financing decisions move forward. Our objective remains the same: to turn opportunity into financed and deliverable energy assets,” said Nadine Levin, Portfolio Director at Energy Capital & Power.

Energy investment across the full value chain

While upstream oil and gas remains central to the programme, IAE 2027 will broaden its focus across the wider energy ecosystem.

The Exploration & Discovery Investment Forum will examine frontier exploration, AI-enabled subsurface imaging, data-driven exploration techniques, gas monetisation and the expanding role of African national oil companies and indigenous operators.

The Grid Convergence Forum will explore gas-to-power integration, hybrid industrial energy systems and regional electricity markets, reflecting Africa’s growing need for reliable and affordable power.

On the final day, the Commodities & Capital Allocation Forum will bring together commodity traders, insurers, banks and institutional investors to discuss how commodity markets, insurance products and risk pricing influence capital allocation. Sessions will also examine export credit support, floating LNG projects, offshore developments and cross-border pipeline financing.

A platform built around investment

By combining sovereign project origination, structured investor engagement and financing discussions within a single event, IAE 2027 continues to position itself as one of Africa’s leading energy investment platforms.

Rather than serving solely as a networking conference, the forum aims to create an environment where governments, project sponsors and investors can advance negotiations, structure partnerships and mobilise capital for bankable energy projects.

As Africa seeks to close its infrastructure financing gap while meeting rising energy demand, the Paris gathering is expected to play an increasingly important role in connecting investment capital with commercially viable projects across the continent.
