Pairin backs call for Armizan to continue serving as Papar MP

PETALING JAYA: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) founder Joseph Pairin Kitingan has backed a division leader’s call for Armizan Mohd Ali to continue serving as the Papar MP.

Pairin said the domestic trade and cost of living minister is a capable and experienced leader who has contributed significantly to Papar and Sabah’s development as a federal minister, Warta Oriental reported.

“Continuity and stability are important to ensure ongoing development and effective representation for the people,” he said.

The former Sabah chief minister was responding to a call by Limbahau PBS chief Johnny Mositun for Armizan to defend his seat in the 16th general election.

Armizan won the seat in the 15th general election with a 12,822-vote majority in a six-cornered contest.

Pairin said close cooperation among the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah’s component parties was crucial to ensuring that Sabah’s “voice” was heard at both the state and federal levels.
